ACTIVITIESExcursion to TiraxiTiraxi is a place that contrasts with other typical sites in Jujuy. It is situated in the Yungas area (high level rain forest or cloud forest) at 1600 MASL (Metres Above Sea Level) and 41 Km far from San Salvador de Jujuy. To reach this town you have to cross the Grande River over the bridge by Leon town, from there the road may present some difficulties in the rainy season as it is a road-stone combined with parts of clay road; be advised that you should drive carefully. This part of the road is 20 Km long approximately. As soon as you get into this circuit you start enjoying the nut forests, the “cerros pines” woods, cedar and alder tree woods. The road, with its up hills and down hills, its curves and passing across rivers offers a new view at every stirring wheel turning. This route may also be made on horseback, arranged in advanced with the local guides, or on foot; the abundance of rivers and falls grant enough edible water to make our journey easier. If you have a whole day to spend, it is possible to complete this circuit, by car, going to theTesorero Lagoon, where most wild animals are concentrated, and to the town of Ocloyas, getting back to San Salvador de Jujuy by other road (60 Km far approximately). Important: There is a stream between Tiraxi and Tesorero, for this reason it is advisable to ask the local people if the road to Tesorero is passable. Distancies:• San Salvador de Jujuy > Tiraxi 41 Km. |
