The region offers the possibility to visit different museums.

Huacalera Church
Huacalera Church was built in XVII century. It is one of the most valuable and best preserved of the colonial architecture in the whole country. Beautiful Cuzco style paintings are well preserved. This church played a relevant historical role due to de fact that in this place General Lavalle´s flesh was removed from his mortal remains; the heart of the great warrior, who had fought in the Independence war and had participated afterwards in the bloody battles of the civil war, was placed in a clay pot.

Ramoneda Study Museum
This Old colonial building is the first art museum of the province. It shows art pieces by Francisco Ramoneda, his founder, and form other Argentinian and foreign artists as: Antonio Alice, Benito Quinquela Martín, Enrique de Larrañaga, Indalecio Pereira, Luis A. Ramoneda, A. Laxeiro and others.

Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria
This church was built in 1631. The high altarpiece is of a great beauty.
A figure of the Candelaria Virgin, patroness of Humahuaca, carved in cardón wood (big Andean Cactus) and plaster cast, made in l631, can be admired here. Paintings of Cuzco school style can also be seen here.

Humahuaca Regional Folkloric Museum
Objects of different kind, which form part of the local folklore such as tools, food, drinks and pieces of clothing, can be seen here. A complete set of musical instruments from the Northeast part of Argentina is worth seen. There is also a section dedicated to the three traditional festivities: Carnival Burial, the little Angel Funeral and the All Saints Offering festival.

Torres Aparicio Museum House
The Achaeological Museum "Justiniano Torres Aparicio", offers to the visitor a general vision of the cultural development of the Quebrada of Humahuca region, including the most remote cultural signs and collectors' and nomad hunters' tools. Exponent of all the geologicla and himan history periods of the Quebrada de Humahuaca. This is a non-profit museum and it offers an important contribution to the history and cultures of the people of Humahuaca and as aa legacy for humankind.

Posta de los Hornillos "Historical Museum"
This building belongs to the colonial period and it was one of the staging posts on the way, which linked River Plate viceroyalty with Upper Peru. In the XIX century it was the General Headquarters of the Independence Army vanguard. General Belgrano used the house to rest after his victories in Tucumán and Salta and was scene of several battles.
In XIX century, during the Independence Wars, it was the headquarters of the patriot army.
It has thirteen exhibition rooms, where XVIII and XIX century life is accurately represented.

Ernesto Soto Avendaño Sculpture Museum
The Museum pays homage to the sculptor that created the Humahuaca Independence Monument. It was opened when the artist still lived and shows 42 plaster original pieces of his work. Among them: “Tiredness”, “sorrow”, and “Labour” and a scale model of the Independence Monument.

José Antonio Terry Painting Museum
The Museum gathers several plastic argentine artists whose works are realted to the Tilcara life, costums and traditions. José Antonio Terry’s works are outstanding. From its very beginning, the cultural task done by the Museum has contributed to promote Argentine art and culture.

Hugo Irureta Foundation Fine Arts Museum
Place devoted to the North-east Argentine culture and art. Important collection by Hugo Irureta and other artists.

Historical and Achaeological site: "Pucará de Tilcara"
This museum offers a vision of the way of life in these marvelous places prior to the conquerors´ arrival. The Pucará, being itself a military fortress, is located on a hill that offers a full view of the Quebrada de Humahuaca. At the foot of the hill the Altur Botanic Garden can be visited, which is unique in its characteristics.

"Ermitas" Museum
Original collection of carved pieces used for the Via Crucis.

Dr. Eduardo Casanova Archeological Museum
Through its nine exhibition halls, it offers a vison of the Andean world and the Eastern valleys, considering both, material and symbolic aspects of the original inhabitants of the area. Shows Pre-Hispanic cultures artifacts (from diaguita culture, for instance) from the XVI century and material from the Inca's domain period.

Medardo Pantoja Foundation Museum
It exhibits works by Medardo Pantoja, artist representative of the latinoamerican painting. His works always capture the landscape, the people and the traditions of the area. He improved his studies in Buenos Aires under the direction of Master Lino Enea Spilimbergo. The Folundtion where the Museum is placed is a cultural centre in which exhibitions, courses, conferences and audiovisual projections are made as well.

San Francisco Church
National historical monument. The high altar is carved in wood trimmed with golden sheets. It has valuable Cuzco School of Art paintings as well.

Takashi Takahashi Museum
The Japanese painter, established in this region, Takashi Takahashi lived in this house. He was one of the founders of Chuzcalezna School for children painters. The artist also did an imortant research work in cave painting and left as a legacy his house and all his works in order to become a Museum.
